The commission was informed on Tuesday that some lawyers from Mangalore and Chikmagalur are likely to arrive here to cross-examine Mahendra Kumar. In this regard, the cross examination of Mahendra Kumar must be adjourned further, counsel for pro-Christian organisations Rupert Rosario told the Commission.

The hearing was adjourned to June 22, because the author of ‘Satyadarshini’ Paravastu Suryanarayana Rao did not turn up. He wrote a letter to the Commission, saying that his life was in danger from politicians, police and the Hindu fundamentalists if he arrived. When the lawyers for pro-Hindu organisations expressed their opposition to the statement, Justice Somashekhara said, “If you have objections over it, you file separate petitions and we will hear it too.”

Justice Somashekhara directed the State Government to provide adequate security to Suryanarayana Rao on his arrival. Pro-Hindu group lawyers told the commission that the availability of the book ‘Satyadarshini’ is dangerous for social harmony.
