The Arvind Kejriwal government has been exposed on the issue of corruption and its lack of will to fight it, the opposition BJP said on Tuesday while raising the issue of fake degree of former law minister Jitender Singh Tomar.

On a day when a BJP member was marshalled out of the Assembly and the other two squatted in the well of the House in protest, Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta said Kejriwal cannot wash his hands of the Tomar episode by claiming that he was misled.

“They are not serious to fight corruption. The chief minister should have acted against Tomar much before he was arrested,” he told reporters.

“We do not want to disrupt the proceedings of the House but if the ruling party tries to muzzle us by virtue of its brute majority we will agitate,” he said.

Gupta said Kejriwal is refusing to accept the moral of the story on Tomar.
“He should realise that Tomar’s case has raised questions and to answer them we should order a review of all legislators’ degrees.”

Gupta, a former Delhi BJP chief, said the people who came to power with the promise to fight corruption do not want to talk about their own colleague who indulged in it.

BJP legislator from O P Sharma, who was earlier marshalled out of the House when he heckled Kejriwal over Tomar issue, said: “We want some government agency to vet the degrees of all legislators over the next three months.”

The agency can begin with the documents of our three BJP legislators, he said, in a joint media interaction with Gupta.

He also objected to the government’s decision to appoint 21 parliamentary secretaries. “Kejriwal has virtually created a 28-member cabinet against the law which allows only seven, including chief minister,” he said.

Gupta said that BJP legislators will strongly protest against the Kejriwal government's illegal appointment of 21 Parliamentary Secretaries and the efforts to provide them major perks at the cost of exchequer.

He said apart from raising 27 prominent issues related to Delhi, the BJP will has given notice to Speaker Ram Niwas Goel for bringing six Non-Government Resolutions demanding Appointment of Lokayukta in Delhi, expulsion of jailed Tomar from the House, and tabling of Fourt Delhi Finance Commission's Report related to municipal finances.
