Controversial former IPL chairman Lalit Modi on Saturday showered accolades on Prime Minister Narendra Modi calling him as the “most savvy man” who commands “respect”.

“Our PM is most savvy man. He does not need my advice. When he bats, he will hit the ball out of the park. #respect only (sic),” Lalit said on Twitter.

He made these remarks in response to a tweet wondering what would his advice be to the prime minister who was “struggling to manage media” against the backdrop of the raging controversies involving his ministers.

Lalit’s tweet praising the prime minister came on the day Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje was in Delhi for an official meeting.

Raje is facing charges of helping Lalit get residency papers in London when she was the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly. The Congress has also dug out “business links” the chief ministers reportedly has with Lalit.

Lalit is being probed by the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax authorities for violation of FEMA and Prevention of Money Laundering law.
