Report on Queen's apartment damage to take one more week

The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike administrator T M Vijay Bhaskar on Monday said that the Palike Technical Advisory Committee would take another week to submit the final report on the damage caused to Queens Corner apartment on Cunningham Road.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Bhaskar said: “Presently, works to improve the safety of Queen’s Corner structure are going on; they will be completed in two days.

Flat residents who have moved out can shift to their houses once the work is completed. The Legacy Global Projects Pvt Ltd (LGP) that was  excavating land at for its housing project nearby the apartment have already paid the penalty and borne the cost of the works. The decision initiating legal action against LGP will be taken only after the receipt of the report,” he said.

Bhaskar said that the garbage disposal contract for 113 wards was coming to an end ;and in the first phase, new tender had been floated in 35 wards. New rules had been framed this time in the tender.

Accordingly, dry waste has to be collected every two days and a tipper should provided for lifting the garbage of every 750 houses. He added that roads with potholes to be repaired by contractors have been identified and Rs 25 lakh fine had been imposed on contractors for such roads. He said that the  amount will be deducted from their security deposits.
