Last Updated 25 January 2010, 03:51 IST

Briefing reporters after an hour-long co-ordination committee meeting of BJP here, its existing president D V Sadananda Gowda said nominations for the post would be filed on January 28.

Scrutiny and withdrawal of nominations would be held on the next day and a formal announcement would be made in the presence of party national president Nitin Gadkari on January 30.

Though Gowda refused to name any person, Energy Minister K S Eshwarappa's name is doing the rounds. The meeting also discussed the party's strategy for the forthcoming polls to Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

The BJP would hold the party workers meetings in all the 198 wards and assembly segments. "The spirit of discussion that emanates from the meetings will form the basis for short-listing candidates for the BBMP polls", Gowda said.
