Cowboy hats, designer suits and dresses, aviator shades, and a lot more were on view, much to the delight of the lensmen. “I always look forward to the Derby day. It gives me a chance to dress up and really make a fashion statement,” said Meha, a college student. “Derby day is not just about the racing, it’s about coming out and looking your best,” she added.
As usual, the venue was packed with thousands flocking to put their bets in and watch some action. “I make sure I bet extra on Derby day,” said Santosh, a frequent punter. Punters had a good day, with five favourites obliging in a card of nine events.
The prize for guessing the first four places of the Derby went to M Lokesh, who walked out with the keys of a Maruti 800.
