Two killedin accident

Two people were killed in an accident on the state highway near Puttige bridge in Heeriyadka on Friday afternoon.

Police said that the motorbike riders, who were riding from Perdur towards Udupi, were knocked down by a speeding lorry, killing them on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Varun and Vishwas.

Police said that since the branch of a tree had fallen on the road and a car was parked, the bikers tried to overtake the car but were hit by a lorry coming from the opposite direction. Meanwhile, a bus which was behind the lorry and was plying
towards Shivamogga, swerved at the last second in order to avoid running over the fallen bodies but plunged into a small gorge. As a result, the passengers suffered minor injuries.
