Close on the heels of the arrest of an LTTE militant in Ramanathapuram district, one more alleged member of the banned outfit has been held near the airport here today.

A police official told PTI that LTTE militant Kumaraguru was arrested along with two locals who were allegedly assisting him in getting a fake passport. He was arrested when he was planning to go back to Sri Lanka, the official said.

Police, who raided the house where he was staying on a tip-off, said Kumaraguru's friends Mohammed Ali and Tirumurugan who were helping him to get the fake passport were also arrested. It was not known why Kumaraguru was staying here.

Meanwhile, 'Q' branch of Tamil Nadu police dealing with extremist activities has taken into custody LTTE militant Krishnakumar and two others who were arrested on July 20 near Uchipuli in Ramanathapuram district and will be interrogating them.

According to police, Krishnakumar is a close associate of slain LTTE supremo V Prabhakaran. Some communication gadgets and cyanide capsule were also seized from his possession.

'Q' branch SP Bhuvaneswari and her team were interrogating them, police said. Last night, Ramanathapuram Judicial Magistrate-II court Judge Veluchamy had agreed to 'Q' branch plea to grant them custody of the three persons for three days.
According to a Central Intelligence official, their interrogation is necessary to find out the exact strength of the militant outfit in the state.
