The newly-elected student council members of St Claret College took the solemn
oath of office recently. Dr KK Seethamma, registrar of Bangalore University, was the chief guest for the day.

Rev Dr Sabu George, Principal; Fr Vineeth George, Vice Principal; Rev Fr Thomas Thennady, former principal of St Claret College; Rev Fr Sojan K Abraham, Principal, Claret PU College; Rev Fr Benny Mathew, Principal, Antony Claret School; and  Shashikala, staff coordinator, were also present for the ceremony.

Rev Fr Vineeth George, vice-principal, administered the oath to the college cultural and sports representatives. President and vice-presidents of various clubs and
associations along with class representatives also took the oath.

The newly-appointed Student Council Members were adorned with sashes and received the flag from chief guest Dr Seethamma and Rev Dr Sabu George. During the swearing-in ceremony, the members of the Student Council were bestowed with badges for their respective posts.

Dr Seethamma addressed the issues and challenges of higher education in
India.

“Higher education should brace itself to meet the global challenges with research
and extension activities. Education should focus on human values and character
development, not on money and fame,” said Dr Seethamma.

She focussed on the need to develop human capital through education to make India a developed nation in the world.

Rev Dr Sabu George congratulated the student representatives and motivated them to become transformational leaders in college and society.
