<p>The newly-elected student council members of St Claret College took the solemn <br />oath of office recently. Dr KK Seethamma, registrar of Bangalore University, was the chief guest for the day. <br /><br />Rev Dr Sabu George, Principal; Fr Vineeth George, Vice Principal; Rev Fr Thomas Thennady, former principal of St Claret College; Rev Fr Sojan K Abraham, Principal, Claret PU College; Rev Fr Benny Mathew, Principal, Antony Claret School; and Shashikala, staff coordinator, were also present for the ceremony. <br /><br />Rev Fr Vineeth George, vice-principal, administered the oath to the college cultural and sports representatives. President and vice-presidents of various clubs and <br />associations along with class representatives also took the oath. </p>.<p>The newly-appointed Student Council Members were adorned with sashes and received the flag from chief guest Dr Seethamma and Rev Dr Sabu George. During the swearing-in ceremony, the members of the Student Council were bestowed with badges for their respective posts.<br /><br />Dr Seethamma addressed the issues and challenges of higher education in <br />India. <br /><br />“Higher education should brace itself to meet the global challenges with research <br />and extension activities. Education should focus on human values and character <br />development, not on money and fame,” said Dr Seethamma.<br /><br />She focussed on the need to develop human capital through education to make India a developed nation in the world. <br /><br />Rev Dr Sabu George congratulated the student representatives and motivated them to become transformational leaders in college and society. </p>
