Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is now using visual media to appeal to farmers not to resort to suicide and that the State government is with them.

The Information and Public Relations department has come out with a four-minute short film wherein a grim faced Siddaramaiah is seen talking about the importance of farmers’ lives.

Siddaramaiah’s ministerial colleagues including Roshan Baig, Krishna Byre Gowda, H S Mahadevaprasad, T B Jayachandra among others; Opposition leaders Jagadish Shettar, K S Eshwarappa and Basavaraj Horatti have been roped in to give it a non-party appeal.

They state that suicide is not the solution for difficulties in life. Official sources said the film is part of the government campaign to stop the spate of farmers’ suicides. It has been hosted on the CM’s social media. Siddaramaiah will spend Wednesday meeting families of farmers who committed suicide in Dharwad and Gadag districts.
