<p> U Vimal Kumar has resigned as the president of the Karnataka Badminton Association with immediate effect on Saturday. <br /><br /></p>.<p>Vimal presided over the association from December 2013 and cited an increase in coaching commitments as the primary reason for his resignation.<br /><br />Speaking of his tenure, Vimal said, “ It has been an honour and a privilege for me to do my bit towards badminton development and administration through the KBA.<br /><br />“I am extremely grateful for the support and cooperation I have recived from the KBA committee,” he added.<br /><br />Vimal will, in addition to increased coaching commitments, have a hectic travel schedule in the run up to the 2016 Rio Olympics.“It was never my intention to serve only for a curtailed term, but circumstances have played out in such a way that I am now duty bound to dedicate my entire time and attention to my coaching obligations,” he said.<br /><br />His next assignment will be to travel to the World Badminton Championships in Indonesia as Saina Nehwal’s coach. <br /></p>
