Last Updated 10 August 2015, 21:10 IST

Six days after a Pawans Hans Helicopter went missing on August 4 in Arunachal pradesh, its ‘metal like object’ was found on Monday morning.

The Deputy Commissioner of Tirap districts of Arunachal Pradesh, Kamalesh Kumar Joshi, who was the lone passenger in the helicopter, the two pilots  — Captian M S Brar from New Delhi and Captian Rajeev Hoskote from Karnataka were the three people on board when the chopper lost contact with the Air traffic Controller.

The Air Force (IAF) which claimed to have spotted the wreckage of the Pawan Hans helicopter presumes it may be the tail and one of the doors, IAF sources informed Deccan Herald. The Location is between remote Thinsa and Dadam village of Tirap districts bordering Myanmar.

A search team comprising of Assam Rifles, Army, officials from Arunachal Pradesh, civil and police administration have been sent to the area where the IAF choppers on Monday morning spotted the “metal debris”. Since the area is very remote the search teams might be able to reach there only on Monday late night, sources further added.

“ We did receive a confirmation of siting of debris in Tirap districts , but whether that is the wreckage or not will only be ascertained after search team reach there,”  Arunachal Pradesh Chief secretary Ramesh Negi told Deccan Herald over telephone.

A top Assam Rifles official on condition of anonymity informed Deccan Herald that the search operation is taking much more time since the terrains of Tirap, Changlang and Longding are infested by militants. The area shares border with Myanmar, the militants use the area for transit and hideout. NSCN (K) is very active in the area. Thus the search teams are being more precautions so that they themselves don’t get ambushed by the militants.

The search operation started on August 5 , from Soha village where villagers apparently heard a loud sound which many presume is that of a helicopter crash. There are other search parties in Thina, saliman and dadam in Tira district which fell on the flight path of the ill-fated chopper.
