The countdown has begun for the launch of the birth centenary celebrations of former chief minister D Devaraj Urs at the Open Air Theatre, Manasagangotri, here on August 20.
On Tuesday, Revenue and District In-charge Minister V Srinivas Prasad released the logo with the portrait of Devaraj Urs assiduously placed in the numerical 100, denoting the significance of the occasion. The numericals in gold colour gives a distinct look in the backdrop of a milky white canvas. ‘D Devaraja Arasu Janmashantamanotsava 1915-2015’ printed in different coloured fonts, below in Kannada, completes the picture. The logo is designed by artist Prakash Chikkapalya.
On Wednesday, a CD of a song on Urs, penned in Kannada, that gives a peek into his eventful journey from his native Kallahalli (in Hunsur taluk, Mysuru district), will be released, former MP A H Vishwanath, working president of the D Devaraj Urs Birth Centenary Committee, said.
Artiste Sridhar Jain-led troupe of dancers will present a dance ballet for the song, on the D-day here, Vishwanath added.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the birth centenary celebrations on the day at 3 pm. Prior to that, the chief minister will attend a slew of programmes at Kallahalli, where he will announce the decision of the government to adopt the village to be developed as a model, besides giving a push to the government’s decision to adopt the ancestral house of Urs, to be conserved for the future.
