JOIN USTelugu Titans tame mighty Mumbai
Telugu Titans on Tuesday ended their campaign with a comprehensive 46-25 win over U Mumba in the Season 2 of the Pro Kabaddi league at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Kreeda Nagari here.
U Mumba finished on top with 60 points after the end of the match.
It was the superb all-round display from Isac Antony, who had six raiding and three defence points to his name, that did the trick for Titans. He had splendid support from Rohit Baliyan (8 points) and Prashant Rai (9).
The winners were 20-12 up at half-time with one all-out scored in the 15th minute.
U Mumba, who had defeated Puneri Paltan on Monday, were not able to get their act going though they tried to keep the pace with their rivals up to 9-9, courtesy captain Pradeep Kumar and Bhupender who had four and two points to their credit.
However, the Mumbai side faded after the break as Rai and Baliyan stepped up the gas and a few failed attempts by the rival defence especially, Anoop EV and Jeeva Gopal, led to the Titans opening up a lead of 32-18, with a second all-out.
Initially, Iran’s captain Fazel Atrachali showed some promise with a super tackle on rival Prashant Rai but he could not replicate that effort thereafter.
Prashant came up with a super raid of three at that time. Pradeep kept on trying and was rewarded with a super raid late in the match but it only helped reduce the margin by three.
Pirates rout Paltan
Patna Pirates kept their hopes of semifinals alive by comprehensively beating Puneri Paltan 38-21 in the day’s second match.
