DH initiative on BBMP polls gets overwhelming response

Citizens for Change
Last Updated 18 August 2015, 19:53 IST

Responses have been pouring in for Deccan Herald’s ‘Citizens for Change’ initiative, which offers people a platform to raise their problems and get a signed undertaking from the candidates that the listed issues would be resolved within a specified timeframe.

This is an agenda for change, an action plan to get every candidate extremely serious about their election promises. Deccan Herald, as announced earlier, will put up these commitments in public domain.

The citizens’ agenda offers people a unique opportunity to make their ward candidates accountable. Residents’ Welfare Associations from every ward could list the 10 most prominent issues in their ward. They could be related to garbage, the condition of a road or roads, stray dog menace, streetlights, underground drainage, condition of parks and lakes, land records or any civic matter.

Fix a deadline for the candidates to resolve the specified problems if elected to the BBMP. Get a signed undertaking from your ward’s BJP, Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) candidates in the prescribed format.

The forms are available at www.deccanherald.com

Clearly mention the name of the citizen / Residents Welfare Association with contact details (phone number, email address). Send the filled-in form with signatures of the association representative and all the three candidates to Deccan Herald. Scanned copies of the form could be mailed to bbmppolls@deccanherald.co.in

The deadline for sending the filled-in forms has been extended till August 20.
