Dr Satish Chandra re-appointed Nimhans director

Dr P Satish Chandra has been re-appointed as the Director and Vice chancellor of the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences on Saturday.

Dr Satish Chandra, who took charge from Dr Uma Maheshwar Rao, said, he had been appointed for a period of six months or till a new director is appointed. This is his second stint at the helm of Nimhans.

Two incidents in the recent past had put this institute of National importance in poor light.

The staff had staged a snap stir when the then director-in-charge, Dr Nityananda Pradhan had shown doors to a few exployees. Another was an incident of firing by a prisoner, who had been admitted for treatment at the jail ward.

Dr Chandra said his focus would be to instil confidence in people about the hospital. "We will work as a team and ensure things are back to normalcy," he added.
