I H Sangam Dev of Krishna Creations, a resident of Banashankari 3rd stage, and Ravindra of Manikanta Enterprises, a resident of Thanisandra main road, have been accused of cheating Dr B R Ambedkar Development Corporation (formerly Karnataka SC/ST Development Corporation) of Rs 92,910 by dishonouring the contract to make a documentary film on the corporation’s welfare schemes.

In a complaint lodged with the Cubbon Park police, K S Mruthyunjaya, an official of the Corporation, has alleged that Sangam Dev and Ravindra had signed a contract with the Corporation on March 3, 2005 to make tele-films. As part of the agreement, the Corporation agreed to pay Rs 95,000 as fees to both the film makers.

A month later on April 5, the Corporation paid the sum through two cheques drawn at the State Bank of Mysore, Ambedkar Veedhi branch.

“The duo, however, failed to honour the contract by not making the documentary despite several written notices sent by the Corporation,” he charged.

Both the film makers were unavailable for comment. Cubbon Park police have registered a complaint under section 420 of the IPC.

Elderly woman robbed
Two persons masquerading as policemen robbed an elderly woman of her gold chain and three gold bangles worth Rs 75,000 in Rajajinagar police limits on Friday evening.

The victim, Sunanda Devi, 66, was returning home from a temple nearby when the culprits stopped her and introduced themselves as police officers. They told her about  the increasing thefts in the area and cautioned her about the safety of her ornaments. They called another man, who was also wearing ornaments, and asked him to remove his ornaments and keep them in his pocket.

The culprits then requested her to remove her ornaments and keep them in a packet. When the woman grew suspicious and asked them to produce their identification cards, the duo snatched her packet and fled on a bike parked near the temple.
