Govt did not ask me to go on leave, says Chawla

Denying reports of the Chief Secretary S V Ranganath asking him to go on leave in the wake of the government car drivers’ protest, he maintained that “nothing of that sort happened”. “Chief Secretary SV Ranganath did not ask me to go on leave for a month. Rather, I had myself applied for leave a few days ago which appears to have been approved now,” he told Deccan Herald.

Karnataka State Government Motor Drivers’ Central Association, which had staged protests in front of Vidhana Soudha on Thursday demanding removal of Chawla, vowed not to let the bureaucrat assume any post in the State.
