Flipkart blends social with shopping, launches Ping

 ECommerce major Flipkart has added a social shopping experience ‘Ping’ to its app. Using Ping, Flipkart users will be able to chat with friends while shopping, and share their experiences using text, photos and emoticons in real time.

Flipkart, one of the country’s largest online marketplaces competing with the likes of Snapdeal, Amazon and smaller players in the arena, has about 50 million monthly active users of its mobile app.

Currently in beta stage, Ping will be available through an invite-only model in the beginning.
Flipkart also said it is focused on developing products for mobile devices but has not decided on the timeline to go app-only.
