The taluk panchayat members expressed their dissatisfaction over the zilla panchayat’s decision to send back the proposal for solar lights worth Rs 28 lakh at TP general body meeting.

Raising the issue, members Veronica Cornelio, Umesh Nayak, Devdas Hebbar and others said that ZP’s decision should be condemned. Suneetha Shetty said the approval from the zilla panchayat was imperative as there was an urgent need for the solar lights. She said previously the zilla panchayat had approved the proposal worth Rs 70 lakh.

MLC Kota Srinivas Poojary said that the proposal should be resent to the zilla panchayat requesting for the approval without any pre-conditions.

Another member Bhaskar alleged that national highway widening at Padubidri was delayed as some groups were supporting the NH while others were against it and were obstructing the work.

He said that government should intervene and finalise either on constructing a national highway or a bypass. EO Rajendra Bekal said the NH officials would be asked for clarification on the present status. Member Satyananda Nayak said the vacancies at registrar office should be filled immediately as work was getting delayed. There was a demand for Rs 1 lakh for the construction of Anganavadi at Sanyasimutt in Badanidiyur.

The members also objected to the lethargic behaviour of the BEO, as he had sent back the member Pravin Shetty who  had demanded an education certificate. The MLC said that the official should be inquired for his behaviour.

The members objected to the proposal raised by Sathyanand Nayak for shifting of  tailoring center at Kinnimulki to Badagabettu. The EO directed the gram panchayat president that the pond at Manchikere at Badagabettu  could be developed using funds from MGNREGs. The MLC said that the members should pay frequent visit to government schools, Anganavadis, BC hostels to look into their condition. This would help in solving the existing problems.

The members Baby Poojarthy and Pravin Shetty objected to the list of the beneficiaries selected for the year 2015-16 under Social Forestry Scheduled Tribe programme to distribute solar lamps.
