Rowdyism and bitter rivalries. Machhu and langu. Revenge and redemption. All these are back with a vengeance in RX Suri, the directorial debut by Sri Jai.

Said to be styled on Paritaala Soori, the gangster who ruled the roost in Rayalaseema province of Andhra Pradesh, RX Suri is all gore and gang war without let or leisure.

Survival is a life battle for rowdy Suri, and the film is a celebration of the violent and vituperative culture of machhu and langu, which Kannada filmdom is infamous for.

Suri turns rowdy when he is forced to take on the lecherous youths who sent an MMS to his sister Deepa’s mobile. The don of the place takes umbrage that his meanies are being massacred and pays with his life when Suri runs his langu right through his throat. From then on, there is no turning back.

Given his ill-fated lifestyle, Suri tries to dissuade neighbour Meera who is smitten by him. But she stands steadfast, and romance blossoms. But with another rowdy Tiger out to get at Suri, it’s a bitter battle for survival, even as Suri seeks to put his past behind him to lead a clean life.

Our Kariya (Vijay) goes about his business like there’s no tomorrow, while fans whistle and cheer his exploits. Akankshaa is just a pretty face, while Ravishankar raves and rants like the roused Tiger he plays. Prashanth Siddi provides comic relief.

It’s up to Duniya Vijay’s fans to find out whether their Black Cobra remains unscathed, or reaps what he sows.
