The Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners and Agents Association on Monday announced that it will take part in the nationwide indefinite transport strike from October 1, as the government did not respond to their demand to withdraw TDS and toll charges.
The strike was announced recently by the All India Motor Transport Congress (AIMTC) in New Delhi. At a press meet here on Monday, the members who converged from across the country unanimously resolved to suspend their operations nationwide on the toll issue and also demanded withdrawal of direction on installing speed governors. The members said that the levy of TDS on the transport sector had led to cash flow constriction and was causing difficulty in keeping records.
