Exotic blend

It is hard to impress a traditional South Indian palate with exotic food. But the seven-month-old ‘Krazzy Folds’ has managed to carve a niche for itself by serving cuisines from all over the world in the rustic area of Jayanagar.  With interiors influenced by the West, the restaurant makes use of the space shrewdly.  The huge and comfortable couch at one of the tables reminds one of ‘Central Perk’ from the popular sitcom ‘Friends’. At the backdrop of this couch is a quirky and colourful artwork.

 

It also has glass walls on one side that let one enjoy the food while looking at the small yet busy lanes of the residential area. While the interiors stir in a pinch of confidence about this new eatery, the taste of the unusual appetisers ignites a desire to experiment.  The chef and proprietor, Deepak, who has grown up in the area, has laid down the menu to suit the Indian palate. His wife Rajashree, another administrator, attends to the customers with a smile and guides the culinary team to provide quality food.

The place has a variety of options for vegetarians. The appetiser ‘cone spice ice cream’ is as mysterious as it sounds. Filled in a crispy cone, it has  spiced corn, black beans and sour cream sunk in the Mexican guacamole. Chunky and tangy, it is worth a try.  The menu, with witty words, has a variety of salads and one can add chicken or shrimp to their plate. The ‘Mexican grilled pineapple and corn salad’ served on the corn leaf has a very Indian taste and gives a tangy rush to the taste buds.  The dishes are a fusion of Mexican and Indian (mostly the South) and the ‘stuffed banana pepper taco’ is a pleaser with sweet and spicy flavours.

The Japanese pancake ‘Okonomiyaki’, with a variety of toppings, tastes South Indian. Nevertheless, it may be given a try for its innovativeness. The place also serves quality sandwiches and pasta. The ‘Kokum cooler’, a special drink, gives a refreshing feel and desserts like ‘panna cotta’ and ‘churros served with chocolate sauce’ are a perfect end for a heavy meal.  ‘Krazzy Folds’ is located at 10th B Main, 31st Cross, Jayanagar 4th Block; for more details, call 49652826.
