Thieves made away with Rs 13.44 lakh cash and gold valuables at State Bank of Mysore, Holenarasipur branch, on Saturday night.

The incident came to light on Sunday morning, after window grills of the bank were found removed. Apart from a large amount of cash, gold ornaments wrapped in five packets kept in the lockers have also been stolen.

The burglars have used a gas cutter to break into the strong room.
However, a senior officer of the bank claimed that Rs eight lakh cash was stolen. Luckily for the customers, the burglars have spared another locker which was nearby, which contained jewellery worth crores of rupees, that were pledged by the customers for availing loans.
