Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal did not allow municipal workers to enter his house and carry out fogging despite a larvae of aedes mosquito being found on the compound wall of his neighbour, said North Delhi Mayor Ravinder Gupta on Sunday.

The North Delhi Municipal Corporation started a special dengue prevention drive around 7 am on Sunday. Municipal workers with Mayor Ravinder Gupta reached outside Kejriwal’s house Civil Lines area around 8.30 am only to be turned away.

“It’s vey shameful that Kejriwal is politicising the issue of dengue. He is not trying to curb dengue but he is busy making efforts to tarnish the image of BJP-ruled corporations,” Gupta told Deccan Herald.

Asked if Kejriwal was at home, Gupta said, “Yes he was at home but he didn’t allow us inside the premises. Then we begun from his next door neighbour where larvae were found.”

“A legal notice was issued to the owner of the property. It is a common boundary wall between the neighbour and the CM’s premises where larvae were found,” he added.

Municipal workers and the mayor kept waiting there for an hour but to no avail.
“We are appeal to the citizens to allow domestic breeding checkers to inspect their household as it is in their interest. But if chief minister is not allowing the mayor and his dengue prevention team then what can be expected of others,” he said.

He added that one could imagine what the Chief Minister has in store for Delhiites.
Municipal workers have also distributed leaflets and made announcements to create awareness among the masses against the deadly disease.

North Corporation standing committee chairman Mohan Bhardwaj said there is lot of need to improvecivic sense and awareness about sanitation as well as vector-borne diseases.

“The Delhi government has kept Rs 526 crore for publicity which should have been utilised for the purpose of creating awareness among the masses,” he said.
“The advertisement should contain the message that helps in educating the masses for promoting civic sense and healthy lifestyle to keep the diseases away.”

Commissioner Praveen Gupta said the drive aimed to cover areas like Burari, Inderpuri, Kirari, Kanjhawala and Mukandpur from where more cases of dengue are being reported.

The commissioner added that such drives would continue till the corporation is able to control the number of patients down.
