CBI probe into Lokayukta scam: HC seeks objections

The High Court on Tuesday granted two weeks time to the State government to file objections to the PIL filed  by Samaja Parivartana Samudaya (SPS) seeking CBI inquiry into Lokayukta scam. 

T N Raghupathy, the counsel for the petitioner, had filed a memo seeking to retire from the case. C K Veeresh Kumar has taken over as the petitioner’s advocate.

 Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao’s son Y Ashwin has been booked for extortion on the basis of a complaint filed by an executive engineer, who has claimed that Ashwin demanded Rs one crore bribe from him to prevent initiation of anti-corruption proceedings against him.

Directions sought
The petitioner has sought directions to hand over the probe into extortion racket to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

A division bench comprising Justice N Kumar and Justice G Narendar adjourned the matter.
