Man attempts suicide at police station

A man embroiled in a domestic dispute attempted suicide by consuming poison at police station in Kirugavalu of the taluk on Friday.

Krishna of Markalu village of the taluk who had been to the police station seeking the police help to solve a personal problem consumed poison in front of them.

Krishna was married to Mahadevamma of the same village and the couple has a two-year-old son. Following differences of opinion, the couple was living separately and the child was with its mother, as decided by the village elders.

A month ago Krishna took his son with him, only to incite his wife who succeeded in taking the child back into her possession recently.

Disturbed Krishna, who sought the intervention of the police in getting his child back, consumed pesticide to threaten them. He was immediately rushed to Mandya district hospital in the police jeep. He is currently out of danger.
