She told Deccan Herald that Bharti was shocked to learn that police officers had suggested to the media that he had cried during interrogation.

Bharti, who has been sent to police custody in a matrimonial discord case, has also suggested to her that there was a threat to his life.

He alleged that a police officer had warned him not to eat loose food or water givenby anyone at the police station, unless he trusted the person.

“He has been advised to sleep with his head away from the gate (of the cell) for fear of life,” Divya Jyoti alleged.

Bharti has also demanded the return of his copy of the Constitution with which he had surrendered September 28, after evading police for days.

He also alleged that he has been denied paper and a pen to draft an application for the court and also prevented from accessing law books or research material.  Divya Jyoti claimed that Bharti’s cell was in poor condition.

“The lock-up has no light or fan. He is being forced to sleep in the lock-up on a hard surface which is not only unhygienic but prone to diseases like dengue,” she said.

On the interrogation, Bharti told his sister that that his pet Labrador did not “respond to any of his commands in front of all police officers”.

Bharti said that the investigators earlier took him to a house in A-Block Shivalik where he and Lipika Mitra lived for a month after their marriage.

He was also taken to a premises in Nangal Dewat’s C-block and a vet hospital during the first two days of his police remand.

Bharti taken to Agra

Somnath Bharti was on Friday taken to Agra, reports PTI. Bharti, while on the run, had taken shelter at various places in and around Agra and Mathura districts.

The same police team will take him to Mathura on Saturday. At Agra, Bharti was made to confront Lal Singh, the person who had earlier registered a police complaint over criminal breach of trust against his distant relative Baney Singh (a prominent AAP leader in Agra), who had allegedly harbured Bharti throughout the time he evaded arrest.

A senior official said that Lal Singh recognised Bharti instantly and claimed that he was the ‘mantri’ from Delhi with whom Baney Singh had come to his house and borrowed his car, which they did not return.

However, the police have not yet been able to track Baney Singh and any of the four other persons who were under the police scanner for allegedy harbouring Bharti.
