Cong targets PM for not inviting Siddu to Nasscom event

Last Updated 07 October 2015, 20:04 IST

Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh has criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not inviting Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to the Nasscom (National Association of Software and Services Companies) event held in Bengaluru on Tuesday as part of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s visit.

“CM Karnataka not invited in NASSCOM function attended by PM and German Chancellor in Bangalore,” he tweeted on Wednesday. “Is this Cooperative Federalism which PM talks about? Would CM Gujarat also have not been invited if this function was in Gujarat?” said another tweet.  Singh is the Congress general secretary in charge of the party’s affairs in Karnataka.

The prime minister and the German chancellor attended the meet, ‘Indo-German Summit 2015: Digitizing Tomorrow Together’, jointly organised by Nasscom and the German Fraunhofer Institute. Siddaramaiah wasn’t even invited to the luncheon hosted for Merkel with leading Indian CEOs at the summit. The Centre, however, insisted on Tuesday there was no breach of protocol as the programme was organised by Nasscom and Fraunhofer Institute.
