A high-level Cabinet committee is understood to have approved the appointment of Veenith Joshi for the post. Joshi has been acting as the CBSE boss since August 2008, when the then chairman Ashok Ganguly retired from service.
The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet is learnt to have cleared the name of Joshi to head the premier board. His name was recommended for the post by the HRD Ministry which held selection process for the CBSE top job for a third time. The appointment of the top boss in the CBSE got mired in a controversy when an IPS officer was recommended to head the education body.
