Two men including the complainant who staged a fake robbery worth Rs 30 lakh have been arrested in east Delhi’s Jagatpuri area. Rs 29, 83,400 and the car which was used in the crime have been recovered from them, police said.

According to police, the two accused men have been identified as Suresh Kumar, 32, and Rajneesh Kumar, 31.

On October 23, Suresh, who is an employee of a rice merchant, was going from Lahori Gate to Karkardooma to collect cash. He claimed that two bike-borne men threw red chili on his eyes and stole the bag containing Rs 30 lakh. On the basis of which a case was registered at the Jagatpuri police station.

“During investigation, we kept a tab on the complainant’s movement and found that one of his friends was present at the crime spot. We interrogated Suresh but he did not tell anything about it. Teams were then sent to his friend, Rajneesh’s house at Bhiwani in Haryana. During sustained interrogation, Rajneesh broke down and admitted to the crime.” said a senior police official.

Suresh admitted that he has been working with the firm for the past 15 years and had won his employer’s trust. Since both Suresh and Rajneesh were in a dire need of money, they staged a robbery.

Rajneesh along with Suresh went to Karkardooma where Suresh came out with the cash. As per the plan, Rajneesh reached near the Karkardooma flyover where Suresh shifted the bag to Rajneesh’s car and Rajneesh fled from the spot, after which, Suresh sprinkled chili powder on himself and staged the robbery.
