Filmmaker Kundan Shah to return National Award

Award-winning filmmaker Kundan Shah has said the he would return his National Film Award, won for his directorial debut movie Jaane bhi do yaaro, shortly to register his protest against he  appointments made to the cultural and educational institutions on communal lines by the Centre.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Manipal International Film Festival organised by students of School of Communication, Manipal University, he said, “The intolerance in the country is increasing like never before. Hence, the frustration has resulted in one section of film fraternity deciding to return their awards.”
