<p>The chairman of the government appointed committee on safety of women, V S Ugrappa, recently visited Fortis Hospital in the City, following a complaint that a male attendant had molested a 54-year-old woman patient.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Speaking to reporters, Ugrappa said it should be made mandatory that all hospitals conduct background checks before inducting employees.<br /><br />Ugrappa said the hospital management had told him that they had dismissed the accused, Shivakumar, from service. It has also come to light that the accused had also worked in a government hospital for five years, he said. <br /><br />Health Minister U T Khader said that he had asked the enquiry committee to look into the issue and submit a report.<br /></p>
