Siddara Betta in Koratagere taluk of Tumakuru district is a repository of medicinal plants. One can get a panoramic view of Channarayanadurga, Devarayanadurga and Madhugiri from the top of this 2,650-feet hill. The beauty of the hill inspires poets while its rich vegetation attracts botanists, researchers and Ayurvedic doctors. It is believed that the herbs available in the hill can cure many diseases. Devotees and nature enthusiasts also take pleasure in visiting the hill. The hill has historical significance too.

There is a cave in the mid-way to the top of the hill. The udbhavalinga seen here is called Siddeshwara Swamy and there is a small pond with a natural fountain at the location. This is the birthplace of River Suvarnamukhi. Hence this cave is also called Suvarna Gavi.

It is said the water in the pond has medicinal properties and taking a bath in the pond is refreshing. There is an opening to one-km long cave just in front of udbhavalinga. It is dark inside the cave and it is advisable to explore the cave with the help of a guide and a torchlight. The cool air inside makes one forget the harsh sunlight outside the cave.

The landscape on top of the hill is plain. It is said sages once lived here and practised penance. Hence, the name Siddara Betta — the hill of saints. Climbing the hill is not a tough task as the steps are properly carved. It is better to start climbing early in the morning to avoid the harsh sun. The hill is about 110 km from Bengaluru.
