The BJP State leaders have accused the State government of failing to take up development programmes for the welfare of the minorities, backward classes and Dalits.

Speaking at the convention of the party on Tuesday, the leaders levelled allegations against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of neglecting the OBCs and Dalits.

Former minister Aravind Limbavali said the chief minister was following a ‘divide-and-rule’ policy. “An attempt is being made to divide the society. The government may not complete its term,” he said.

“The chief minister, who came to power in the name of Ahinda, is neglecting them. There is a need to create awareness among the people on the failure of the government. The BJP will come to power in the next election,” Limbavali said.

BJP SC Morcha president Govind Karjol said, “The government has failed to implement programmes for the welfare of Ahinda members. The minorities are neglected. The law and order situation in the state has deteriorated. The government is protecting the sand mafia.”

BJP backward class unit president Kota Srinivas Poojary said, “The voters will teach a lesson to the Congress in the next election.”

Legislator K G Bopaiah said the Congress government had passed a law to file a criminal case against officials who failed to utilise the fund for the welfare of SC/ST community members. In spite of it, Rs seven crore from ITDP was returned in Kodagu district, following non-utilisation of funds, he rued.

He opposed the move of the State government to observe the birth anniversary of Tipu Sultan on November 10. “There were instances of looting temples in Kodagu district by Tipu Sultan. The district administration should not allow to observe Tipu birth anniversary,” he demanded. District BJP unit president Suja Kushalappa and others were present.
