<p>The town police have booked Shivakumar, a deputy superintendent of police with the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force, for rape.<br /><br /></p>.<p>P A Korawara, Additional Superintendent of Police, Kolar, told Deccan Herald on Wednesday that the victim, a girl from Srinivaspur taluk in Kolar district, had filed a complaint before a court which directed the police to investigate it. Accordingly, a complaint has been registered, he added.<br /><br />The victim said Shivakumar raped her during a visit to her Chikkajala house on January 9, 2014. He threatened to kill her if she dared disclose the matter to anyone else, she added.<br /><br />Shivakumar had come to her house, promising to help her in reclaiming the money and jewellery she had lent to her relative, Venkatesh, two years ago. She had lodged a complaint against Venkatesh at the Srinivaspur police station. Shivakumar was Circle Police Inspector in Kolar at that time.<br /><br />“Shivakumar got to know about the complaint and called me on the phone, claiming to be a social worker and offering his help. He called me to a hotel in Bengaluru several times, professed his love for me and behaved indecently with me,” the complaint says.<br /><br />Denies charges<br /><br />When contacted, Shivakumar said the girl had met him in connection with a crime case and tried to extort money from him. “Since I refused to pay up, she lodged this complaint. The accusation of rape against me is totally false,” he said.</p>
