Info on e-tender sought

The High Court on Wednesday directed the State government to place records pertaining to e-tender and procurements of bi-cycles to be distributed free to the students studying in government and aided schools for the year 2015-2016. The State government has procured 5,51,372 bi-cycles for distribution.

S K Bikes private limited, Ludhiana, and Hero Eco Tech Limited have challenged the rejection of their bids by the State government and awarding the tender in favour of Hero Cycles Limited, Ludhiana, Avon Cycles, Ludhiana and TI Cycles of India, Chennai in May, this year.

According to Hero Eco Tech Limited, the successful bidders have quoted a higher price, which is Rs 3,750 for girls bicycle and Rs 3,680 for boys bicycle as against  Rs 3,561 and Rs 3,131 quoted by them.  As a result, the state government have to shell out an additional Rs 10 crore for procuring the bi-cycles. Justice Anand Byrareddy admitted the petitions challenging the e-tender process and adjourned the hearing for two weeks.
