Cooking can be a task, but cooking gourmet food is a different ball game
altogether. From store hopping to waiting in queue to finally cooking your meal, it can be a tiring affair. But with ‘Chefkrafts’, an initiative that provides gourmet recipe kits crafted for one’s needs, the process of cooking becomes a whole lot of fun.

The do-it-yourself experiment was started by Mohit Mital, Vishnu Iruvanti and Chef Xerxes about a year back to help everyone cook easily and enjoy a plate of food at home. Mohit says, “We wanted to provide a hassle-free cooking service for everyone who wants to enjoy gourmet food at home. It’s about creating an experience where one can cook, share and appreciate the whole process.”

So how does it work? One has to log on to the website and browse through the menu. Post this, one has to select the desired dish, place the order and wait for the ingredients to be delivered home. What makes it a hassle-free process is that the vegetable and meat that come to your doorstep are cut, and sometimes even cooked. All these come with the chef’s recipe of course. With everything available on a platter, one can bring out the gourmet in them! The dishes are categorised into salads, minis, casuals and mains.

However, one needs to order within the given slots to get the ingredients at home, or wait patiently for the next slot. “We deliver between 12 pm and 2 pm, 3 pm and 5 pm and then 7 pm and 9 pm. The orders can be placed an hour or two before the delivery time so that we get the time pack accordingly,” says Mohit. Some of their popular dishes include ‘Mixed Beans and Corn Salad’, ‘Quinoa and Garden Vegetable Salad and a Tomato Soup’, ‘Teriyaki Chicken and Noodle Salad’, ‘Singaporean Paper-Wrapped Chicken with Green Apples in Som Tam’, ‘Pesto Chicken Sliders with Caramelised Onions and Potato Wedges’, ‘Spicy Spinach Quesadillas’, ‘Cajun Chicken Burger with Potato Wedges and Chefkraft Signature Salad’, and more. He adds, “The recipes are fairly simple and someone who does not like to cook can also have fun with them. We also customise the ingredients, if one needs more or less or something, providing transparency to the whole process.”

Calling this DIY activity a “Lego for food”, the three founders believe that this initiative is of great help especially to people living alone or want to host a party. “We believe in making a deeply personal connection as everyone loves food and wants to have the best of it. With Chefkraft, we hope to deliver what they crave and put a smile on their faces while doing so,” they conclude.
