Karnataka boys rout Vidarbha

 Shashank K (5/39) and Ruchir Joshi (4/29 and 3/71) shone with the ball as Karnataka registered a 10-wicket victory over Vidharba in the Cooch Behar Trophy (under-19) cricket match here on Saturday.

Batting first, Vidharba were bundled out for a meagre 126 in 53.2 overs, with Mohit Kale scoring 66 runs. Shashank and Ruchir (4/29) did the damage for Karnataka.

In reply, Karnataka rode on Nikin Jose’s 97, who was ably supported by Shivakumar BU (48) and Likhit Bannur (37), to overhaul the total and set up a lead of 200 runs. Aditya Thakare (4/43) and Mohit Raut (3/60) took the wickets for Vidharba.

In the second innings, Mohit (87) again batted well for Vidharba as they made 219 in 64 overs, setting a 19-run target. Ruchir claimed three wickets for the hosts. Chasing the target, Karnataka reached the mark (21) in 5.1 overs.
