The Joint Action Committee (JAC) formed in Manipur against the killing of a school headmaster on charge of cow theft has called for 72 hours general strike from midnight of November 9.
The JAC is demanding arrest of the culprits involved in the murder of Hashmad Ali, who was found murdered on November 2.
Earlier on November 5, police personnel and the supporters of the JAC fought pitch battle when the angry protesters tried to storm the Irilbung police station in Imphal East district.
As the news spread about the recovery of the dead body, the villagers from Ali’s village alleged that he was killed by people from a nearby village 5 km on charges of ‘cow theft’,after he was allegedly caught ‘red handed’ while trying to steal cows.
