Sandalwood’s ace director, Sunil Kumar Desai has returned to direction, with his latest project titled, ‘Re’ which has a huge starcast. He has also hand-picked every actor and given each one a different role and has ensured that none of the characters overlap.

The story explores love, marriage and heartbreaks with equal importance. “A lot of times, parents try to advise their children on how to lead their life after marriage and children don’t take kindly to it. There’s misunderstanding among the family members and this causes a rift between the newly married couple,” explains Sunil. He says he’s inspired by real life subjects. There are scenes where the movie takes a philosophical turn and provoke people to think on a variety of issues. “Movies must not only entertain but also get people to think and understand how the society works around them,” he says.

The film raises a lot of questions about the concept of marriage. “Does marriage begin and end with only the couple or does it go beyond that? Is there something called real love? These are just some of the questions raised in the film,” states Sunil. He feels the young today are not very receptive to advice from their parents. “Parents must step into the scene only when there is a crisis in their children’s life. That’s the message in the movie,” he says.

Ramesh Aravind plays a lover and Harshika Poonacha that of a lady who holds a prominent post in a television channel. Talking about  Harshika Poonacha’s role, Sunil says, “I am working with Harshika for the first time. I’ve watched couple of her movies and I thought that she would perfectly suit the requirements of this character. And full marks to her for the way she has portrayed the character,” observes Sunil.
