<p>Chairperson of the committee on women and child safety, V S Ugrappa, has said the State government should make it mandatory for private security agencies to carry out background checks before recruiting security personnel.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Speaking to mediapersons in Bengaluru, Ugrappa said that he had paid a visit to Cubbon Park, where a woman was gang-raped by two security guards on Wednesday. The suspects, who are from Assam, were hired by Pavan Security and Detective Group, a private security agency run by a person named Keshavamurthy. He added that one of the suspects was working two jobs- he was working for the Income Tax department during the day and the Horticulture department at night, according to the police. He added that a majority of the accused in such cases hail from outside the State and hence it is very important to verify their credentials before they are employed.</p>
