The Centre on Saturday stepped up security across the country following the deadly terror attacks in Paris that have striking similarities with the 26/11 attacks in Mumbai seven years ago.
State governments have been asked to beef up security at crowded places like tourist spots, markets, bus stations and railway stations. Police presence at all foreign embassies and consulates have also been increased.
Official sources said precautionary steps have been taken, as terrorists of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and the Indian Mujahideen have been conspiring to target the country, especially the foreign missions.
In Delhi, security was scaled up particularly outside the French embassy besides government buildings and international airport.
