Noida Sector 18 market is teeming with a number of eateries and food chains and Our Story – Bistro and Tearoom is a new addition to the list. Metrolife went over to explore the place.

The two-storey café has a quiet atmosphere with a coffee aroma. The first floor has a bakery and live kitchen section along with a sitting capacity for 20. An electic book and gaming section is one the reasons why the cafe sees customers at all hours. People can engage themselves until their food is served.

The décor is simple, with rustic chairs and tables. Small hand-made paintings on walls and cups, kettles hang over the ceiling. The white table and chairs with floral-printed cushions reflect a bygone period. We chose to sit on the second floor, right beside the balcony that serves as a hookah lounge, equipped with indoor games and swings.

Meghna Rathore, director of Our Story and a passionate cook herself, explains the concept behind the place and its name. She says, “The place was conceptualised by me along with my sisters. The idea behind opening this place is to share the memories and life's experiences at a place far from the maddening crowd. It’s not just a café, but every space and element has been personally chosen to create an experience that offers a combination of a healthy, holistic cuisine that will not only energise you.”

Coming to the food, the menu is a mix of cuisines from India, Italy, Thailand, China and the Mediterranean. The café brings the concept of wood fire cooking, which many popular cafes in the capital don’t have.

The Half-Dozen Chicken Satays and Grilled Fish Fingers with Garlic Aioli from Our Story Style Snacking section, were spicy and mouthwatering. Among the beverages, we ordered Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip milk shake, missing on to the interesting tea and coffee offering.

However, the rich taste of the shake made our choice worth the try.  The grilled fish, served with lettuce and bell pepper salad and aioli sauce, was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Thumbs up from our side! Before we were done appreciating the above, the satay was already on the table. Clubbed with peanut sauce, the chicken was moderately spicy keeping intact all the Indonesian flavours.

For the main course, we chose Mutton Khichda. The presentation in wooden dish with banana leaves, served with desi ghee, chopped onions, green chillies and coriander leaves, already earned full points from us. The spicy taste of small mutton pieces in rice mixed in thick gravy can make you feel nostalgic and take you back to your childhood. From the dessert section, we ordered the Warm Chocolate Fondant. The dish was their version of choco-lava cake.

But if you have ever tried the original version, then this might not impress you, as the rich and the thick taste of chocolate was missing. Nonetheless, we had a nice and flavourful experience at Our Story. And if you want to create a story, head over to the place.
