Building design in two days

Last Updated 19 November 2015, 18:37 IST

A  team of architects led by the Ryder Alliance, an international consortium of architecture firms from around the world, have re-imagined part of New York City using Building Information Modelling (BIM) software.

The Ryder Alliance team scooped the international prize of Build New York Live 2015, the latest competition in the Build Earth Live series. The international multidisciplinary team was given just two days to design part of the largest private real estate development in the history of the United States and the largest development in New York since Rockefeller Center.

The challenging round-the-clock competition called for participants to re-imagine the western yard site at Hudson yards. Beating stiff international competition, the team was named the overall winner of the online Building Information Modelling contest which took place from September 21 to 23. Competitors were given only 48 hours to respond to the design brief using state-of-the-art BIM and project technologies to submit their entries using a cloud-based collaboration portal provided by the sponsors, ASite.
