The Department of Small Scale Industries has proposed that a law be enacted to authorise deputy commissioners to acquire and allocate 50 acres of land for the establishment of industries under the small-scale industries sector.
This will speed up the process of setting up industries and creating employment opportunities, Small Scale Industries and District in-charge Minister Satish Jarkiholi said here on Friday.
Addressing reporters after hearing the grievances of forest dwellers who have been demanding title deeds for the forest land they are cultivating, Jarkiholi said currently the department was acquiring land through the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB) and there were delays in allotment.
He said that a meeting would be convened shortly, where officials of the Law and Revenue departments and the Department of Small Scale Industries would discuss the issue of enacting a new law to make provision and empower the deputy commissioners to grant land in their districts with a cap for 50 acres for establishing industries.
Cabinet approval
Subsequently, the proposal would be placed before the Cabinet for its approval and eventually for the enactment of the law that will bring in procedural ease, he said.
Jarkiholi said that after the state investors meet scheduled to be held in March, a mega job fair would be organised in Belagavi for unemployed youth.
