KSOU admitting students without BoM approval, says MLC

Last Updated 20 November 2015, 20:15 IST

MLC Go Madhusudhan has alleged that the authorities of the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) have started the admission process for courses of the academic year 2015-16, even though the Board of Management (BoM) has not approved the move.

In a letter addressed to the registrar of KSOU, the MLC has termed the move illegal. “The issue of admission of new batches was not at all discussed during the 137th general meeting of the BoM held on November 14.

“However, in the proceedings of the meeting, it has been entered that a decision has been taken for admissions unanimously. This is a breach of trust,” Madhusudhan says.

The process of issuing notifications for fresh admissions, even before obtaining the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) recognition for the courses offered by the KSOU, is an act of deceiving the students the MLA has warned, since the act attracts criminal action under Section 419 and 420 of the Indian Penal Code.
