Goods vehicle mows down one, injures two

A youth was killed and two others injured when a goods vehicle ploughed into a group of passengers waiting for a bus in Horamavu on Monday.

The police have identified the deceased as Mahesh (23), a construction worker at an underconstruction site in the City and a native of Chintamani in Chikkaballapur district.

Raghu and Ramu, both aged 21 and residents of Bangarpet suffered injuries in the incident. The duo are being treated at a hospital and are said to be out of danger.

 According to the police, the accident occurred around 3.30 pm at the median below the flyover at Horamavu. A group of around seven persons were waiting for the bus. As the driver did not stop the bus, Mahesh, Raghu and Ramu started running behind it. The goods vehicle was speeding behind the BMTC bus. The driver failed to control the vehicle and rammed into the trio, said the police. Mahesh was killed on the spot as he came under the wheel, while the two others were rushed to a hospital. 

The goods vehicle was seized and its driver has been arrested, said the police.
