Poor performance in exam drives MBBS student to suicide

A fourth year MBBS student of Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) committed suicide by injecting himself with unknown poison at his Dollars Colony house in JP Nagar police limits on Tuesday.

The victim, Nikshep, 23, was dejected over his poor performance in internal examinations, the police said. He was the only son of BBMP Chief Engineer K T Nagaraj.
The incident came to light on Wednesday morning. Nikshep’s relative was at the house after Nagaraj left for work.

He grew suspicious after Nikshep did not come out of his room till late morning. There was no response from inside to the repeated knocks on the door.
He broke open the door, gained entry inside and noticed Nikshep lying on the bed, said the police.


Brought dead
The relative alerted Nagaraj about the incident and rushed Nikshep to KIMS where doctors declared him brought dead, said the police.

In the complaint, Nagaraj stated that his son was depressed over performance in the recently concluded examinations and hence took the extreme step.
There was no death note, added the police.
