Man held for raping his minor daughter

The Uttara Kannada police have arrested four persons, including the father and brother-in-law of a minor girl, on the charge of raping her. The victim had disappeared from a madrasa in the taluk recently.

The arrested have been identified as Rafiq Gangavali (45) - father of the girl; Muzaraf (30), her brother-in-law; Ravi Naika (28) and Bharath Naika (26).

Addressing a press meet here on Sunday, Superintendent of Police R Dileep, gave details about the disappearance of two girls from a madrasa recently.

Rafiq was raping his daughter, who used to study at the madrasa. The girl’s brother-in-law, who came to know of it, was also raping her. The victim shared her ordeal with her friend at the madrasa and both of them decided to flee to Goa and look for a job,  he said.


“Ravi Naika and Bharath Naika found the two girls at the Kumta railway station. They took their photographs and threatened to post them on the Facebook if they (girls) refused to come with them. The duo took the two girls to an unknown destination, raped  and brought them back to the Kumta railway station, the next day,” the SP said.

The secretary of the madrasa had lodged a complaint with Bhatkal Rural Police about the disappearance of the two girls.
